"The Coalition of Latinos Unidos of Lake County assisted me in pursuing my educational endeavors. As someone who is not eligible for financial aid, scholarships play a huge role in my education. I work full time and go to school full time, so it always amazing when others notice my hard work and support me along my journey. I am studying Accounting at Northeastern Illinois University and plan to graduate December 2018. My life goal is to assist the undocumented and/or homeless communities. People should support the CLULC scholarship fund as it recognizes students who work hard and want to make positive contributions in the world."

"My name is Adrian Perez. I am an English and Psychology double major at Lake Forest College. My area of expertise includes the neuroscientific research I have been a part of for the past 4 years at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science as a research assistant. The CLULC scholarship is incredible because it has allowed me the chance to excel in college without the very realistic worry of having to deal with a substantial loan. I'm able to allot most of my days to studying in college, as well as making sure I'm an active member on campus by joining clubs and organizations. As a first generation college student, it has proven difficult to completely adhere to every fine detail of being a college student, but this alleviates a great amount of that stress. It is important to support scholarships such as CLULC because it gives students the chance to chase their dreams and their passions. Otherwise, we would all be hectically trying to make sense of the unknown world that is college. I am currently involved in a slew of things on campus, involving the academic advisory committee for both the English and Psychology department. I'm thankful I was given the opportunity to focus on becoming something greater, and I owe it to scholarships such as this. "

"I am honored to be one of the lucky recipients of the Coalicion Latinos Unidos de Lake County 2014 Scholarship. I am very thankful for the opportunity they have given me to continue my education. I also thank my hard working mother that has always supported me and my dreams. I am proud to say that thanks to the CLULC, I will be able to make a difference in the Latino community. Once again, thank you CLULC for the support you are providing to all of us Latinos."

"The CLULC scholarship has helped me immensely as a first-generation college student. I attended the College of Lake County and have transferred over to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The cost of obtaining an education would have been very difficult had it not been for this scholarship. I was able to focus on my studies and made the Deans list upon my first semester. I am currently majoring in Psychology with the hopes of working in a school one day. I could not have been so successful without the help of this scholarship. I have helped my community and will continue to help my community knowing that they supported me. "
