Tenth Dems’ motto has long been that politics is about more than just elections. It’s the process of working together to improve our community, state, and country – to make our world a better place. We all can do that in a lot of ways. This year, on Wednesday, June 17, at 6 PM, Tenth Dems will be holding the 10th Annual Tenth Dems Poetry and Prose Contest Awards Night. It’s a chance to showcase some of the many talented high school students from Waukegan, North Chicago, and Zion. Not only are there prizes awarded to the winners for their original writing, but there’s also an opportunity for these young writers to read their works to a supportive audience.

It’s not just a wonderful event for the students, it’s moving for those of us fortunate enough to hear from them. Their creativity, raw emotion, and skill make this one of the highlights of the year for Tenth Dems. It really is something else!
