About Alexandra Soto

Alexandra Soto graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Grayslake North High School in June 2023. She was also honored as an Illinois State Scholar. Alexandra was co-captain of the girls JV soccer team, participated in her school’s French Club, Future Medical Professionals Club, and Latinos
Stand Up. As a member of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, Alexandra helped organize activities for Social Studies Week, Veterans Day activities, and Native American Heritage Month. She enjoys volunteering for the Grayslake North Athletic Booster Club and at her local Feed My Starving Children location. In addition, Alexandra is receiving hands-on experience by working alongside healthcare workers at two Advocate Condell Immediate Care Centers near her home.

Alexandra will be attending Lake Forest College in the fall to pursue a pre-health undergraduate degree in preparation for medical school. A personal cancer scare inspired her to pursue a service-oriented career as a pediatrician. Alexandra’s experience motivated her to go into a profession where she can help others. Her perseverance and determination will help Alexandra complete her goal of becoming a physician. She also wants to give back to the Latino community by using her Spanish-speaking skills.

Alexandra is inspired by her mother who is a first-generation college graduate and her father who is a blue-collar worker who strongly believes in the importance of supporting his family’s educational aspirations. The CLULC scholarship will enable Alexandra to continue with her academic achievements and will help decrease the tuition burden now, so that she may start saving for medical school.
