Tenth Congressional District Democrats (Tenth Dems) 10th Annual Poetry and Prose Contest Awards Night

The 10th Annual Tenth Dems Poetry and Prose Contest Awards Night. High school students in North Chicago, Waukegan, and Zion submitted original poems and stories on the theme CHOICES. The judges have made their selections and at Awards Night contest winners will be announced. They, and all students who participated, are invited to read their poems and stories. This is a free event.

FAFSA & RISE Act Workshops

The RISE Act is a new law that will enable some students who were previously ineligible for state of Illinois financial aid (ie, MAP grants) to receive aid. This includes undocumented students who are residents of the state of Illinois, transgender students who will not fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) due to the requirement that gender is listed as “at birth” (which could require selective service registration for individuals who are assigned male at birth), and undergraduate students who may be in good academic standing but have lost their Monetary Award Program (MAP) funding because they have not reached junior standing after using 75 MAP funded credit hours.
